The numbers 8 and 9 are the most intriguing numbers to me; they certainly challenge the convictions of many. We’ll take a look at the number 8 today and I’ll post later on the cultural perceptions of number 9.
In China the n
umber 8 is always considered auspicious. Eight is considered a lucky number in Chinese culture because it sounds like the word "prosper." Eight is also considered a lucky number in Japanese culture, because the eight gives an impression of growing prosperous, because the letter broadens gradually. House numbers and telephone numbers with the number eight are largely sought after in China, the Beijing Olympics started on 08/08/2008 at 8pm.
The shape of the 8 is also distinctive; write the number down on a piece of paper and you’ll notice the number remains the same even if you reverse the paper. Look at the number 8 in a mirror and it remains the same. Another interesting fact about the number 8 is, if you stretch out the palm of your hand and measure the distance from the tip of your thumb to the tip of your baby finger and multiply it by 8, it is exactly or close to your height in inches. If you write the numbers from 1 to 9 the stroke of the pen always ends downwards. Wow! The 8 is the only number that ends upwards.
In Numerology, the number 8 correlates to the Astrology Planet Saturn. I can say with self-confidence, it isn't considered a pleasant energy by most Numerologist or Astrologist! In Numerology, the 8 vibration is considered auspicious but also karmic; discipline and responsibility are extremely important as is structure order, how one conducts her/his affairs. Maturity is the most significant element of the number 8 and Saturn. The number 8 represents social achievement; persons in positions of authority, high ranking government officials, corporate CEOs and Wall Street executives typically have the number 8 in their Blueprint. The destructive aspect of the number 8 is that persons ruled by number 8 are unemotional and therefore inclined to have failures in love and other emotional matters. But when it comes to career advancement and recognition, Life Number 8 persons have incredibly strong willpower which helps assure a great business success.
In Indian culture Saturn is known as the “Greater Malefic,” if prophesies pending shortages, bad luck, great loss, or punishing circumstances. Saturn and the number 8 are only a malefic for people who lack discipline, willpower, patience or those unwilling to prove themselves and expect to be acknowledged without having any reason to be recognized. For that reason the auspicious nature is destroyed and as a result is considered to bring about harmful influences. The number 8 vibration whether it's your Life Number, Name Number or Day of Birth, works against you if you do not follow the rules and rewards you if you uphold the systems that are in place, those who work hard, and those who are ethical, discrete, and timely are greatly rewarded.
In Astrology Saturn is the strongest planet when it comes to career advancement, recognition, and self-discipline. This statement is especially true for person’s that have ascendants in Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Libra, Capricorn or Aquarius. In Numerology when the 8 vibration pairs with 1, 4, or 5, a person has great advancement potential. In the same way, the numbers 4 and 8 can also be in opposition and if wrong choices are made, harmful influences are the immediate end result.
I don’t dispute the truths of any culture. I can however say, as a Numerologist and a person that dibbles and dabbles in Astrology, I’ve bear witness to the favorable and unfavorable vibrations of the numeric 8. The Beijing Olympics started on 08/08/2008 and adds up to the number 26 which by the way, is a beneficial number for athletes and also a splendid financial vibration – if good judgment is used. You can shape your own opinion, if you plan to visit or relocate to China; I say “when in Rome, do as the Romans do”
